THE RULES SAY WHAT THE MACHINE ENFORCES · THIS SAYS WHY · THREE QUESTIONS, SHORT ANSWERS
01WHY WAIT IN LINE INSTEAD OF CHALLENGING?
10 verified joiners (R-05₁) means ten real people confirming an emailed code through your join flow - a recruiting project that eats days of founder time you aren't spending building, selling to the same people the board was handing you anyway.
The joiner roster and audit trail keep the market's answer. Your network can't be re-asked next month, and R-08 cools down re-challenges for 7 days.
Fill the rest of the founding cohort mid-duel and the holder graduates on the spot (R-02/R-11) - the duel closes with no winner and the seat goes to the queue, not to you (R-03). Which is the point: challenges provoke incumbents to go find real users.
The queue is first-come (R-03). No votes, no favors, no curation - eventually the chair is yours, no matter who you know.
| YOUR SITUATION | THE RATIONAL MOVE |
|---|---|
| Queue #1–2; seat may open soon | Wait - seated with zero effort |
| Few real users in reach | Wait - a failed duel burns reputation |
| Real users, real momentum | Challenge - the campaign is your top-of-funnel |
| Weak incumbent | Challenge - stage a public audition |
| Deep queue, slow movement | Challenge - the seat now beats the wait |
| Just lost a duel here | Wait - R-08 decides for you |
| Incumbent freshly seated | Wait - R-04 immunity blocks it anyway |

02SEATED, BUT THE COHORT ISN'T FILLING. WHAT HAPPENS?
Most seats struggle to convert at some point. The system answers in layers - and none of them punish failure.
The indie clock is the tenure itself (R-19): fill your cohort or rotate - a seat never idles behind a builder who stopped proving. The join flow is the whole funnel here (R-15) - there is no claim window to close; the countdown is public and the machine enforces it.
Tenures cap at 10 days, countdown public (R-19). No extensions - the clock is the clock. It runs out: seat opens, no shame, no flag, refile free.
An empty roster is public signal. Withdraw from the console, sharpen the offer, refile free. Rotation is feedback, not verdict.
A full founding cohort ends the tenure (R-02/R-11): Alumni Wall forever (R-14), seat passes to the queue (R-03). A place you succeed your way out of.
NO BANS · NO FINES · NO EQUITY (R-18) - YOU LOSE YOUR TURN, NEVER YOUR STANDING · R-10 R-13 R-19
03A SEAT IS A HUNTING LICENSE, NOT A LEASE
Scarcity is only legitimate if the scarce thing can't be hoarded. So a seat cannot be:
bought - R-18, no money touches the machine
kept through success - R-11, a full cohort graduates you
held through silence - R-13, squatting reverts
held through time - R-19, the clock rotates
Every exit ends the same way: the seat opens, the queue advances, first-come. The queue is the board's immune system - rotation is how it breathes. Failing here costs your turn, never your standing.
04WHO COUNTS YOUR USERS - YOU, THE MACHINE, OR THE MEMBERS?
Post any number from the console or your own server. It renders as ATTESTED - real information, honestly labelled, never upgraded by hand (R-52).
Every join request and every verified seat is counted by us, not reported by you - the emailed code is the verification (R-21). Wire your own Stripe webhook and payments become signature-verified: PAYING with a ✓ that no one can buy, ask for, or fake.
The roster email asks members one click: still using? The answer is recorded either way - a system that only records flattering answers isn't auditing anything.
Every verified member's code is a join link. A referral credits only when the joiner verifies - never before - and only a verified member of the same roster earns the mark. Members bring members; the board publishes the study on /pulse.
The queue is first-come. The duels are public. The clock is visible. The only thing that moves anyone up this board is demand.
